Itinerary

Day 1Dibrugarh – Lakhimpur

Arrive in Dibrugarh, Assam’s tea capital. Begin your journey with a scenic ferry ride across the mighty Brahmaputra River, then continue to Lakhimpur (3–4 hrs). Evening free to explore the small-town markets or simply relax. Overnight in Lakhimpur.

Day 2Lakhimpur – Ziro Valley

Drive deep into Arunachal’s green heart (7–8 hrs) to reach the breathtaking Ziro Valley, a UNESCO tentative site and home to the Apatani Tribe. Surrounded by pine-clad hills and rice paddies, this highland plateau feels like a painting. Evening by a warm campfire at your homestay.

Day 3Ziro – Apatani Cultural Immersion

Walk through charming Apatani villages like Hong and Hari, known for traditional bamboo houses and the tattooed elder women who are keepers of the old ways. Learn about the tribe’s unique paddy–fish farming, visit a lively local market, and if available, meet an Apatani shaman. Evening cultural showcase and traditional dinner can be arranged.

Day 4Ziro – Daporijo

Journey towards Daporijo (6–7 hrs), passing through Nyishi and Tagin settlements. The drive offers glimpses of hanging bridges, riverside farmlands, and lush valleys. Evening at leisure.

Day 5Daporijo Exploration

Discover Tagin tribal villages tucked along the emerald Subansiri River. Enjoy a riverside picnic, explore small mountain caves and temples, and watch daily life unfold in these remote hamlets.

Day 6Daporijo – Aalo (Along)

Head to Aalo (6 hrs), the cultural centre of the Galo Adi community. Visit traditional houses built entirely without nails, stop at a Donyi-Polo animist temple, and explore the local craft centre. Stay in a riverside homestay or cosy hotel.

Day 7Aalo – Village Trails & Hanging Bridges

Venture into surrounding villages such as Kabu and Kayin, crossing cane-hanging bridges and chatting with locals about their beliefs and customs. End the day at Darka Village, one of the largest Galo settlements.

Day 8Aalo – Pasighat

Drive through the stunning Siang River Valley to reach Pasighat. Along the way, stop at Minyong villages known for vibrant weaving traditions. Evening by the riverside at your camp.

Day 9Pasighat – Dibrugarh

Cross back into Assam via road and ferry, returning to Dibrugarh. Explore tea estates, visit a heritage tea bungalow, or shop for Assam tea and handicrafts.

Day 10Departure from Dibrugarh

After breakfast, transfer to the airport with stories, photos, and memories from one of India’s most remote cultural frontiers.
