Itinerary

Day 1Arrival Guwahati | Guwahati Local Wonders

Arrival: Meet & greet at Guwahati Airport/Railway Station. Check-in to hotel & freshen up.
Sightseeing:
• Assam State Museum – A deep dive into Assamese culture and history
• Umananda Temple – World’s smallest inhabited river island
• Peacock Island – Boat ride on the Brahmaputra (optional)
• Brahmaputra Riverfront Stroll – Sunset views, perfect for photography
Stay overnight in Guwahati.

Day 2Guwahati → Kamakhya Darshan → Drive to Shillong

Morning: Early visit to Kamakhya Temple, one of the Shakti Peethas. Drive to Shillong and En route stop at Umiam Lake (Barapani) – A tranquil escape for photos and snacks Evening: Leisure walks at Police Bazar or relax at the hotel.
Breakfast: At Guwahati Hotel
Stay overnight in Shillong.

Day 3Shillong Local Sightseeing & Laitlum Canyon

Wake up early morning, have breakfast and prepare for a local sight-seeing day:
• Ward’s Lake – Paddle boating or lakeside walk
• Don Bosco Museum – Northeast India’s cultural kaleidoscope
• All Saints Cathedral – Colonial-era architecture and peace
Drive to Laitlum Canyon – “End of the world” view of deep gorges and valleys In the evening: Return to Shillong and stay overnight.

Day 4Shillong → Mawphlang → Garden of Caves → Cherrapunji

Depart for Cherrapunji (Sohra), famed for its dramatic cliffs and waterfalls.
Sightseeing en-route:
• Shillong Peak – Highest point in Meghalaya with panoramic views (needs ID check).
• Elephant Falls – A scenic, three-tiered waterfall hidden in forested surroundings.
• Mawkdok Dympep Valley Viewpoint – A breathtaking gorge, perfect for photos.

In Cherrapunji:
• Nohkalikai Falls – India’s tallest plunge waterfall with a tragic legend behind it.
• Mawsmai Caves – Well-lit limestone caves full of natural stalactites and stalagmites.

Day 5Full-Day Cherrapunji Sightseeing

Wake up to the cool misty air of Cherrapunji, one of the wettest places on earth. After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, head out to explore the region’s most iconic natural marvels.
• Nohkalikai Falls – Witness the breathtaking drop of India’s tallest plunge waterfall
• Mawsmai Cave – Explore fascinating limestone formations inside these naturally lit caves
• Seven Sisters Falls – Panoramic view of seven segmented waterfalls flowing off the cliffs
• Eco Park – Lush green park with views of the Sylhet plains
• Thangkharang Park – Catch a scenic view of Bangladesh (on a clear day)
Return to the hotel by evening and unwind with the sounds of distant waterfalls.
Overnight: Cherrapunji

Day 6Double Decker Root Bridge Trek (Nongriat)

This day is reserved for one of Meghalaya’s most iconic experiences. From Cherrapunjee you start early and trek down nearly 3,500 steps to reach Nongriat village, home to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge. The walk takes you through thick forests, small villages, and hanging bridges. If time and energy permit, you can continue further to Rainbow Falls, known for its crystal-blue pool. By evening, you return to Cherrapunjee for an overnight stay.

Day 7Cherrapunjee to Mawlynnong, Dawki and Shnongpdeng

After breakfast you drive towards Mawlynnong, Asia’s cleanest village. Here you explore the Riwai living root bridge and climb up to the Sky View point to see sweeping views of Bangladesh plains. From there the journey continues to Dawki, famous for the transparent waters of the Umngot River. You can enjoy boating and admire the Indo–Bangladesh border. By evening you reach Shnongpdeng, a riverside village, where you can experience camping or a homestay beside the river. Overnight stay at Shnongpdeng.

Day 8Shnongpdeng to Krang Suri Falls and Return to Guwahati

On the final day you spend a relaxed morning by the Umngot River, soaking in its beauty or trying a short adventure activity. Later, begin the drive towards Jowai where the stunning Krang Suri Falls await with their turquoise waters and scenic surroundings. After enjoying some time at the falls, you continue the long drive back to Guwahati for your departure by evening.
